A case for being BORED
I don’t know if you have noticed or not, but, some of our favorite studio and live musicians DON’T play in every single part of the song. Could it be that THIS is one of the reasons that we love their playing?… because they don’t play in every part of the song? In other words, they “lay out” when they need to. For a musician, knowing when to “lay out” IS an ART FORM. It makes the music better.
I have friends who are trying to fill every spot of their day with SOME activity. But the Bible says to “be still and know that I AM God”… and that “God speaks in a still small voice”.
I’m not pointing fingers here, I do the same thing… I get bored, grab a snack… I get bored, mindlessly watch TV for hours… get bored, I lose myself in an endless Google maze.
If we fill every moment of every day with some activity, how are we going to know what God is trying to say to us? We sometimes won’t even notice He’s there… speaking.
We should embrace that when we’re bored, that’s when our best ideas come. That’s when the breakthrough comes. That’s when the solution comes.
Schedule some time in your day today to be bored …and listen!
Can you tell me a breakthrough you had sometime when you were BORED?

Great example: Today I turned all of my phones off for one hour to sit and create so that I could write text that is relevant to what I am achieving. I tried leaving the phones on and they kept ringing and I kept spinning round and round putting out fires until I decided to put down the garden hose and grab a fire hose and make all of the noise stop. I in turn, had a successful day and feel good about being quietly productive. Thanks Kev, that was great!!
I know Lauren! Sometimes I just have to IGNORE my cell phone and computer for the same reason.
Those productive days feel good, don’t they?
