April 16th, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

Last week, I had the chance to interview my buddy Russ Lee.  Russ sings with NewSong and just finished up the WinterJam tour…

Just a little chit chat about new ways to promote ministries… stuff we teach in the EmPower course.

Would you like to see more interviews? or do you like me to mix it up?

let me know….below :-)

Here’s me letting Russ know I love him ;)   but I think he knows that already!
Great job Kevin. Interesting, short, personable…keep those interviews coming.
One thought or question-what about the “introverted” or “very busy” artist that doesn’t have time or the boldness to plunge into the social media world but maybe wants/needs to.
Not all artists are as personable and open as Russ.  He really works at it…

Hey Mary, Thanks for finally commenting! I had to use your husband to entice you..lol

I think part of being a successful artist is developing systems. One system could be maybe putting “twitter” on your cell phone and every time you do something interesting, or have a word to share, tweet it. Have your twitter then automatically update your facebook etc.

After the initial setup, it won’t take a lot of time and the results will be way more than the effort.

As far as being “introverted”, I’d say that just setting a goal of “tweeting” this way once a day will slowly bring someone out of their shell.

As you know, being a talented singer or musician is only about 60% of the whole package. Marketing is a HUGE part of being a minister and it’s never been easier to market yourself and your ministry.

      Would you agree?

Hey Kevin…thank you so much for that interview. I went to WinterJam in Louisville…the LAST night…it was amazing…had front row seats. Got some great shots. I met Russ and the NewSong boys back in 1996..they have been blessing my heart every since. Looking forward to seeing new interviews!
    God bless,

I went here in Nashville. It was GREAT too.
So, did they pull out all the stops on the last night? :-)

      Thanks for commenting Geri

Kevin….absolutely! They rocked our socks off…yes they pulled out all the stops…And of course I always feel as though I’m about to touch heaven when NewSong does Arise My Love. Whew! What a song! I cried like a baby! Russ’s voice is as solid and soulful as it was the first time I saw him. God bless!!!! Hope you had a wonderful service today!

You asked about frequency of interviews – Just as often as possible. Interviews are my favorite feature on practically any site. :)

Thanks for these, Kevin! As a southern gospel artist whose audiences, generally speaking, are not that media-savvy (may or may not even have an e-mail address), how should we balance our relationship building between more old-school methods (print advertising, postcards, letters, etc.) and more current methods (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)

Shawn, Mickey and I are teaching all of these things in the EmPower Your Ministry Course that we are launching next week.  Spread the word, man!
